We rebuilt the slides editor from the ground up
This is the big one. We rebuilt our slides editor completely, and it is now the tool I am most excited to talk about.
Think of the best bits of PowerPoint, Google Slides and Canva, but but built for the way teachers actually plan lessons. It is fast, it is flexible, and it does the things you actually need it to do when you are building a lesson at 8am with a coffee in one hand.
Then we added the Hive magic on top. You can drop any Hive learning tool straight onto a slide. A number line and a hundred square together for a place value lesson? Easy. A name picker and Word Builder side by side? Done. Ten frames, base ten blocks and dice all on the one slide for a hands-on number talk? That too.
You know those mornings when you've got ten minutes before the bell, a coffee that's already gone cold, and you're trying to pull together one last activity?
That's exactly what this update was built for.
Lessons come together so much faster now. There are templates to start from, you can import from other decks, and you can duplicate a tool with a single tap. I honestly think it might be the biggest update we have ever released, and that is saying something after the digital planner.
A whole new era: interactive classroom games
We also opened up something brand new this year, and the classes trying them are hooked. Meet our interactive digital games: World Cup Kickoff, Race Track, Rocket Launch and Garden Grow.
Same idea. Different adventure. Your teams compete in a football match, race cars to the finish line, launch rockets to the moon, or grow a garden from a tiny seed to full bloom. Answer correctly, move your team forward, win the round.
Here is the part I love. You choose what your students are answering, so the games bend to whatever is on your plan. You can set them to:
- any maths skill you like, from number bonds right up to multiplication and division, customisable to any skill and any grade
- a growing bank of grammar skills for your literacy block
- or your own question and answer bank, for spelling words, a science revision session, or whatever topic you happen to be mid-way through
And these are not just an early years treat. They flex to any grade, so upper primary classes get just as much out of them. It is whole-class, team-based learning of the kind that has students begging for one more round, while they quietly get in a heap of real practice without noticing.
The Staffroom: a place for teachers to lean on each other
Teaching can be a lonely job on the hard days, and technology does not fix that on its own. So this year we opened The Staffroom, a community space inside The Hive where teachers support one another, swap ideas and get through the tricky weeks together.
It is warm, it is supportive, and it is one of my favourite additions of the year. Because the best teaching resource in the world still works better when you have people in your corner.
Loads more for Year 3 to 6 (and still plenty of love for K-2)
I want to set the record straight on something, because I know it has been a sticking point. If you have ever looked at The Hive and thought it seemed more like an early years thing without enough for your older students, that is not the case anymore.
We have been adding upper primary literacy and maths resources at a serious pace this year, and the learning tools work right across Kindergarten to Year 6. Whatever grade you teach, there is a lot waiting for you now, with plenty more still to come. And to my K-2 friends, do not worry. You are still very much looked after.
New digital learning tools across every grade
On top of everything above, we have added loads of new digital learning tools this year, all built to support teaching from Foundation through to Year 6. Can I use the new games with older students?
Yes. The interactive games are designed to flex to any grade. You choose what students are answering, from number bonds and multiplication to grammar skills or your own question and answer bank, so they work just as well in upper primary as they do in the early years.
Does The Hive have resources for Year 3 to 6?
Yes. The Hive has added upper primary literacy and maths resources at a fast pace in 2026, and the digital learning tools work right across Kindergarten to Year 6. There is a strong and growing library for older students alongside the early years resources.
What is The Staffroom in The Hive?
The Staffroom is a community space inside The Hive where teachers support each other, share ideas and get through the harder days together. It was added in 2026 as part of building a more connected experience for members.
How much does The Hive cost and is there a free trial?
The Hive Standard plan is $10.83 per month on yearly billing, and the Unlimited plan, which adds the full Mrs Learning Bee resource library, is $13.33 per month on yearly billing. Both include a free 14-day trial. Your card is not charged until after day 14, and you can cancel anytime before then.
