Learning goals are a great formative assessment tool. They are a fantastic way to help students take ownership over their own learning and set individual goals to improve their reading.

This document includes writing goals which are appropriate for students from Kindergarten to Year 4(ish) across a range of areas:

Emerging Writing Skills
Grammar and Punctuation (including sentence structure)
Vocabulary
Ideas, Text Structure and Literary Techniques
Re-reading and editing
Handwriting
Spelling, Phonics, and High-Frequency Words
