Get students up and moving as they hunt for complex sentences and identify the missing subordinating conjunction in this Write the Room activity. Sentence cards are placed around the classroom for students to find. Once they locate each card, they identify and write the correct subordinating conjunction onto their recording template. Answer cards are included for each set and can also be used as scaffolding cards for students who need extra support.

Three differentiated recording templates mean you can adjust the number of sentences students search for based on their readiness.

This resource includes two versions — one for each teaching sequence — so you can use whichever set of conjunctions your students are currently working with, or both across a unit.
