CURRICULUM OUTCOMES

Australian Curriculum:

  • recognise and read the time represented on an analog clock to the hour, half-hour and quarter-hour (AC9M2M04)

NSW Curriculum (NON-SPATIAL MEASURE A):

  • Outcomes:

    • Describes, compares and orders durations of events, and reads half- and quarter-hour time. (MA1-NSM-02)

  • Content: 

    • Tell time to the half-hour

      • Read analog clocks to the half-hour using the terms ’o’clock’ and ‘half past’

      • Describe the position of the hands on a clock for the half-hour

      • Connect the use of half turns to the turn of the minute hand for the passing of the half-hour.

      • Explain why the hour hand on a clock is halfway between successive hour-markers when the minute hand shows the half-hour

      • Describe everyday events with particular hour and half-hour times

      • Record hour and half-hour time, making connections between analog and digital clocks
