Build place value understanding with The Greatest Number, a partner place value game for 3 and 4-digit numbers. Pairs take turns rolling a 9 sided dice, then decide where to place each digit in the hundreds, tens or ones column (or thousands, hundreds, tens and ones for the 4-digit version) to try to create the largest possible number.
Players compare their number with their partner's after each round and record the winner. Playing three rounds per mat means students make repeated place value decisions and see how digit placement changes a number's value.
What's included:
Version 1: 3-digit number mats, each with 3 rounds
Version 2: 4-digit number mats, each with 3 rounds
6 coloured mats for each version (black and white version included)
