Subordinating Conjunctions Board Game

This resource is inside The Hive, along with thousands more, plus powerful digital tools and time-saving systems.

Get students practising subordinating conjunctions with this board game. Players roll the die, move their counter, then pick a sentence card and complete it by adding a subordinating conjunction — turning a partial sentence like "__ the moon rose, the sky turned darker." into a complete complex sentence. Some cards prompt players to move forward or back a space, keeping the game moving.

The recording template lets students write their completed sentence and underline the subordinating conjunction. This resource includes two versions — one for each teaching sequence — so you can use whichever set of conjunctions your students are currently working with, or both across a unit.

What's included:

  • Board game in colour and black & white

  • Version 1: I SAW A WABUB

    • 4 pages of sentence cards for students to complete with a subordinating conjunction

  • Version 2: A WHITE BUS

    • 4 pages of sentence cards for students to complete with a subordinating conjunction

    • "Move forward one space" and "Move back one space" cards
