This pack include posters and examples to support student understanding of writing different types of sentences- simple, compound and complex. It can be used together to support students writing and assist their understanding of how to use a variety of sentences when creating a text.

The pack includes I Do, We Do, You Do posters to allow students to recognise their responsibility in their learning process, independent and dependent clause poster, types of sentences poster with examples, sorting posters where students can break down a sentence and parts of speech and punctuation discs. 

All of these resources are colour coded and can be used together over a variety of lessons and experiences. 

These all print out A4 in size. 

Australian Curriculum content descriptions

Understand that simple connections can be made between ideas by using a compound sentence with two or more clauses usually linked by a coordinating conjunction (ACELA1467)

Understand that a clause is a unit of grammar usually containing a subject and a verb and that these need to be in agreement (ACELA1481)

Understand that the meaning of sentences can be enriched through the use of noun groups/phrases and verb groups/phrases and prepositional phrases (ACELA1493)

Understand the difference between main and subordinate clauses and that a complex sentence involves at least one subordinate clause (ACELA1507)

Investigate how complex sentences can be used in a variety of ways to elaborate, extend and explain ideas (ACELA1522)
