This schwa activity can be used to consolidate an understanding of schwa. Students will interact with schwa words as they sort the schwa words and/or record the schwa words on their recording pages.
Includes:
- 120 schwa word cards which can be used for word sorting
- Word Sort recording page - sort the words by beginning, middle or end sound (e.g. schwa found at the start of the words like in ago, schwa found in the middle of words like in dragon, or schwa found in the end of words like in comma).
- 2 x recording pages - Provide students with their own copy- this could be part of their homework, glued in their workbook, or used as a guided reading activity. Students add in words whenever they discover schwa words in their readers, books or other class work.
