Are you teaching students to orthographically map CVCC words and CCVC words? These decodable word games are a low-prep phonics activity which can be used to consolidate early phonics skills such as blending and segmenting of CVCC and CCVC words.
Students complete the following steps for each CVCC or CCVC word:
- Say the word
- Tap the word
- Map the word (drag counters or other manipulatives, one for each sound in the word)
- Spell the word - this could be written, or using alphabet manipulatives
3 different versions of the mats are included, as well as 96 CVCC or CCVC picture cards to match the mats.
