Build understanding of division by introducing area models as a way to show division, with the total as the area inside and the missing side as what we're trying to find. Students find the missing side using a known side length, then build their own area model given the area and one known side.

What's included:

  • Teaching slides introducing area models for division

  • 8 practice slides finding the missing side of a fully or partially covered area model, and building an area model from a given area and known side
