Introduce how place value can help multiply by a multiple of 10. A multiple of 10 is made up of tens, so it can be renamed as a number of tens to solve, for example renaming 50 as 5 tens to solve 50 x 3. Students then practise using place value to work out how many tens are in a multiplication problem and solve.

What's included:

  • Teaching slides introducing how to rename a multiple of 10 as tens to multiply

  • 10 practice slides using place value to rename multiples of 10 as tens and solve multiplication problems
