Are you looking for a hands-on activity to help students explore fractions of lengths?
This cut, fold, and paste activity has students physically find the halfway point of a paper strip by folding, then stick it onto the template and label the fractions of the length. The folding step connects the abstract idea of equal parts to something students can see and feel, making it a useful activity for building early understanding of halves, quarters, and eighths as equal subdivisions of a whole length.
Two versions of each template are included — one with a visual guide showing where the fraction labels go, and one without for students who are ready to work more independently.
What's included:
Halves template
Quarters template
Eighths template
With guided versions (dashed outlines showing placement)
