This resource (and thousands more!) is inside The Hive, plus powerful digital tools and time-saving systems.

These open-ended templates can be used in your multiplication lessons.
  1. Students roll a 9-sided die - this is the number of groups to make.
  2. Flip one of your number cards (2, 3, 5 or 10) to determine the number of objects in each group.
  3. Next, decide what the objects and groups are e.g. eggs in baskets
  4. Record your grouping problem on the recording page e.g. 5 baskets of 2 eggs is 10 eggs
  5. Complete for all four number cards (2, 3, 5 or 10)
This activity is included in The Hive's Math program for Representing Multiplication (Grades 1 & 2).
