Ground Rules is a classroom display built around two acrostic words - GROUND and RULES - giving you a ready-made framework for co-constructing classroom expectations with your students. The display is designed to support student agency and build a shared sense of responsibility for the learning environment.
The GROUND and RULES letters are:
G - Greet your educators and classmates daily
R - Respect each other and our classroom
O - Occupy space! You belong here.
U - Ultimately, success is in your hands.
N - Nice or twice. You choose.
D - Dare to step out of your comfort zone
R - Recognise/Recognize your strengths
U - Unique is magic. We are all different and that's ok.
L - Lean into learning new things: from your teachers AND your peers.
E - Expect more from yourself. Be ambitious.
S - Struggles are opportunities in disguise. I'll help you.
