Are you looking for a hands-on figurative language activity to help students identify and sort similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, idioms and imagery? Students read each picture card, identify the figurative language type used, and place it on the matching sorting mat.
Six sorting mats are included (one per type) along with 15 picture cards for each, making this a flexible activity for independent practice, small groups or literacy rotations. Mats are available with or without clipart, and picture cards come in both colour and black and white.
