Are you looking for a hands-on figurative language activity that gets students writing their own sentences using similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole and imagery? Students fold, cut and assemble a 5-flap flip book - lifting each flap to read the definition, then writing a sentence using that figurative language on the outside.
Three differentiated versions are included so you can match the task to different learners. Assembly instructions are included on a separate instruction sheet.
What's included:
Version 1: definition and base sentence provided; students rewrite the sentence using each device
Version 2: definition and an improved sentence provided; students write the simple base sentence it came from
Version 3: open-ended template; students write their own definition and sentence for each device
