Introduce how doubling every number in a multiples pattern gives the multiples of double that number. For example, doubling the multiples of 3 gives the multiples of 6. Students use arrays to see this in action, then practise doubling a known fact to solve a new one, such as using 3 x 5 = 15 to solve 6 x 5 = 30.

What's included:

  • Teaching slides exploring arrays and doubling patterns for multiples of 3, 4, 6 and 8

  • 9 practice slides applying doubling to a known fact to find a new multiplication fact
