Are you looking for a fun, hands-on game to help students practise decoding long A words?
This Dots & Boxes game gets students blending and reading long A words while playing a classic dots and boxes game. All common long A spellings are included (a, ai, ay, a_e).
Students take turns drawing one line to connect two dots. Once they complete a square, they must correctly decode the word inside to claim that square. The game ends when no more lines can be drawn, and the student with the most claimed squares at the end of the game wins.
Black and white templates are also included, along with a recording template for students to sort the words by spelling pattern.
