Are you looking for a fun, hands-on game to help students practise decoding words with consonant digraphs ff, ll, ss, zz and ck?
This Dots & Boxes game gets students blending and reading consonant digraph words while playing a classic dots and boxes game.
Students take turns drawing one line to connect two dots. Once they complete a square, they must correctly decode the word inside to claim that square. The game ends when no more lines can be drawn, and the student with the most claimed squares at the end of the game wins.
Black and white templates are also included, along with a recording template for students to sort the words by digraph (ff, ll, ss, zz, ck).
