This digital phonics activity is perfect for Kindergarten phonics lessons to consolidate blending and segmenting of words with consonant digraphs. It can be used for whole class phonics instruction or as a digital literacy center activity in a Kindergarten or Grade 1 classroom.
These slides can be used in Powerpoint for students to play Tic Tac Toe (noughts and crosses). The slides must be in edit mode, and then students can drag the noughts and cross pieces onto the decodable CVCC/CCVC/CCVCC words.
20 Tic Tac Toe boards are included for words with the following consonant digraphs:
- words with ch
- words with sh
- words with th
- words with wh
- words with ck
- words with ll
- words with ss
- words with ff
- words with zz
- words with qu
- words with ng
- words with x (not a digraph, but included here due to its complexity)
The gameboards are sorted into various sets:
- Set 1: ch sh th wh (3 sound words, and 4 sound words)
- Set 2: ll ss ff zz ck (3 sound words, and 4 sound words)
- Set 3: qu ng x (3 sound words and 4 sound words)
