This resource is inside The Hive, along with thousands more, plus powerful digital tools and time-saving systems.

Explain that for each pair of questions there will be one that would be good for collecting data (thumbs up) and one that would not be so good for collecting data (thumbs down).

Students discuss and answer each question with a partner or small group. They then hold a thumbs up or thumbs down once the teacher asks the questions again. 

For each answer, have groups elaborate on why it is a good or bad question for data collection.

If time allows, groups can answer all of the thumbs up questions to each other. 

9 question pairs are included for discussion.
