Snapping Crocodile Craft - students colour, cut and assemble a split-pin crocodile with a hidden bird that appears when its jaws open and close (colour and black & white versions included)
Differentiated Literacy Activities
Open-ended writing prompts - respond to prompts inspired by themes of truth, tall tales and brotherly bonds, with matching lined writing templates
Character traits - brainstorm and sort inside and outside traits for Dob and other characters, then write a short character description
Fact vs fiction - sort sentences into fact (real) or fiction (imaginary)
Persuasive writing: a tale to save Bob - write a persuasive tale to talk the crocodile out of eating Bob, using persuasive techniques as a scaffold
A fable story - explore the story's moral, then plan and write an original animal fable with a lesson
Differentiated Mathematics Activities
Pond position - draw the pond scene and describe the position of objects using positional language or grid coordinates
Chance scenarios - sort scenarios from the story according to how likely or unlikely they are to happen
Multiplication & division - complete word problems covering arrays, multiplication sentences, sharing worms, grouping and multi-step division
Design Activities
Create a Bob & Dob comic strip - retell part or all of the story, or invent a new adventure, using a comic strip and speech bubbles
Wanted poster - create a wanted poster for a dobber, sneak or tattle-tale, with a description and image
Bird patterns - design original bird patterns inspired by Bob and Dob's markings
