Activities That Involve Chance - Grade 1 & 2 Program

This Teaching & Learning Program is designed for Grade 1 & 2 students.

It includes 5 days of differentiated lesson plans with:

• Learning Intentions & Success Criteria aligned to NSW and Australian curriculum outcomes

• Explicit teaching activities (I do)

• Guided teaching activities (We do)

• Independent teaching activities (You do)

• Reflection questions

• Support and extension activities to target every student in your class

• 5 x differentiated rotation activities for consolidation and review at the end of each unit of learning

CURRICULUM OUTCOMES

Australian Curriculum:

• Identify practical activities and everyday events involving chance; describe possible outcomes and events as ‘likely or 'unlikely’ and identify some events as ‘certain’ or ‘impossible’ explaining reasoning (AC9M3P01)

• Conduct repeated chance experiments; identify and describe possible outcomes, record the results, recognise and discusss variation (AC9M3P02)

NSW Curriculum (CHANCE A):

• Outcomes:

  • Recognises and describes the element of chance in everyday events. (MA1-CHAN-01)

• Content: 

  • Identify and describe activities that involve chance

    • Describe possible outcomes in everyday activities and events as being likely or unlikely to happen

    • Compare familiar activities and events and describe them as being more or less likely to happen

    • Describe familiar events as being possible
