This 6 star writing checklist can help students learn how to begin re-reading and editing their writing. Students check their writing against each of the stars and edit where required using the different colours.
Included:
- 6 star posters with examples
- Individual posters for each of the different stars (2 versions- one with reduced colour)
- 7 sets of editing practice sheets (each set comes in 3 levels to allow you to differentiate according to the level of your students). Provide students with opportunities to practise their 6 star editing.
- Writing Book Checklist Templates
- Editable templates for the practice pages so that you can create your own.
The 6 stars represent:
- RED: My writing makes sense
- GREEN: I have used capitals in the correct places
- PURPLE: I have used correct punctuation
- YELLOW: Spaces between words
- PINK: Handwriting OR Spelling (pick the one that suits you)
- BLUE: Wow words (this could include adjectives, adverbs, similes etc)
