This free Earth Day craft combines sustainability pledges with paper sculpture techniques to create a collaborative classroom display. Each student gets a template with 5 little things they can do for our earth, makes a paper sculpture for each pledge using a different technique (spiral, circle, straight, arch, zigzag), and then adds their pieces to a shared display.
Assign a sculpture technique to each colour of paper, add coloured paper strips with the instructions to the template, and students are ready to go!
The finished display builds up as every student contributes their sculptures, with each piece representing a promise to look after our planet.
You can also make it a wider school community project by leaving out strips of paper for other classes, teachers and parents to add to the display.
What's included:
"5 Little Things" template with pre-written sustainability pledges (pick up rubbish, reusable drink bottle, turn off lights, recycle, turn off taps) in two sizes
Editable template with "Add text" fields so you can write your own pledges to suit your classroom context
Works for any year level . No special materials needed, just coloured paper, scissors and glue
Hive members also have access to the Earth Day Number Slides, which pair each card with levelled questions, interactive digital tools, and answers - ready to use straight from the screen. Access them here.
