This activity can be used when teaching division to students.

Read or watch a read aloud of ‘100 Hungry Ants’ by Elinor Pinczes.

In groups, students cut out 100 ants (or use interlocking cubes to represent the ants). Students must work out how many ants are in 2 equal rows, 4 equal rows, 5 equal rows and 10 equal rows.

This activity is included in The Hive's Math program for Representing Division (Grades 1 & 2).
