This is a 10 week unit of work designed to teach informative texts in the early years. It follows a simple approach where students are heavily scaffolded in order to achieve success as beginning writers. It focuses on:
- Distinguishing between fact/fiction
- Labelling drawings
- Using a simple repetitive structure (with icons to assist with further scaffolding) to write about appearance, diet and habitat.
Ā Support and extension options are included for every lesson.
This unit of work is designed to be used in conjunction with my Informative Texts PowerPoint Slides and Informative Text Templates.Ā The imaginary animal activity in Week 10 can be downloaded for free in the Freebee Library.
