Are you looking for phonics centers to consolidate high frequency words with tricky spellings? These high-frequency word building mats will help students to orthographically map and/or build words with tricky or irregular spellings.
Students will love using magnetic letters, playdough stampers, or any alphabet manipulative of your choice to build 78 different high-frequency words.
Two designs are included for each set -- pick the one that works best for you!
Three sets of words are so far included. These sets include 20 high-frequency heart words and 6 high-frequency flash words. Where possible, words are grouped according to similar spelling patterns.

Heart Words are words with a tricky part which we have to learn by heart. These ‘tricky parts’ are either irregular/rare spellings, OR spelling patterns that have not yet been taught.

Flash words are high-frequency words with regular spellings. These words can be easily sounded out (decoded) but we want students to know these words ‘in a flash’.
