CVC Word Chains for Beginning, Middle and End Sounds

Are you looking for no-prep CVC word games to consolidate early phonics skills such as blending and segmenting of CVC words, and swapping beginning, middle and ending sounds in CVC words? These word chains (otherwise known as word ladders) are a great way to build phonics knowledge in Kindergarten and Grade 1 classrooms, by getting students to change beginning, middle and end sounds of CVC words to build new CVC words.

Over 60 different word chain mats are included for CVC words. Students will need to swap sounds at the beginning, middle and end of the words. 

Answer cards are also included

• print 4 or 6 to a page, so that students can self-check or peer-check their work.
• The nature of word chain activities is also self-checking, as students will need to change the correct letter in order for the word chain to work.
