This is a differentiated math center that targets various early number and addition skills. All you need to play is playing cards- or you can use the playing cards included in this pack.

4 coloured boards are included for three different sets of game boards, as well as playing card templates for numbers 1-10.

The game can be played over 8 different ways:

Level 1: Student flips a card and says the number (they may need to use the visuals to count).

Level 2: Student flips TWO cards (numbers 1-6) and adds the numbers together using the visuals.

Level 3: Student flips TWO cards (numbers 1-10) and adds the numbers together using the visuals.

Level 4: Student flips TWO cards (numbers 1-10) and then turns ONE card (the higher card) back over. They need to visualise the number that is face down and add it to the card that is facing up.

Level 5: Student flips TWO cards (numbers 1-10). They add the two numbers together by counting on from the bigger number.

Level 6: Student flips TWO cards (numbers 1-10). They add the two numbers together by counting on from the bigger number. They then flip a THIRD card and subtract that number from the total.

Level 7: Student flips THREE cards (numbers 1-10) . They add all cards together using the bridging to ten strategy. If the total is less than 10, the students put the cards back. If the total is more than 10, the students keep the cards. The student writes the numbers sentence on their whiteboard.

Level 8: Student flips FOUR cards (numbers 1-9) to create two sets of two-digit numbers. They add the numbers together using the jump strategy (or split or compensation strategy if appropriate) and write the number sentence on their whiteboard.
