6 Star Editing Checklist | Posters & Practice Pages

This 6 star writing checklist can help students learn how to begin re-reading and editing their writing. Students check their writing against each of the stars and edit where required using the different colours.

Included:

• 6 star posters with examples
• Individual posters for each of the different stars (2 versions- one with reduced colour)
• 7 sets of editing practice sheets (each set comes in 3 levels to allow you to differentiate according to the level of your students). Provide students with opportunities to practise their 6 star editing.
• Writing Book Checklist Templates
• Editable templates for the practice pages so that you can create your own.

The 6 stars represent:

• RED: My writing makes sense
• GREEN: I have used capitals in the correct places
• PURPLE: I have used correct punctuation
• YELLOW: Spaces between words
• PINK: Handwriting OR Spelling (pick the one that suits you)
• BLUE: Wow words (this could include adjectives, adverbs, similes etc)
