These CVC and CVCC CCVC word activities will help to consolidate early phonics skills. 

SENTENCE MATS

These sentence mats can be used alongside CVC word and CVCC CCVC word picture cards to create simple decodable sentences. Students add a picture card, spell the word using alphabet manipulatives or magnets, then write the decodable sentence.

Over 30 simple sentence scaffolds are included, using decodable words and common high-frequency words. Image cards are also included.

READ AND COVER

Students decode the words, then cover with the matching picture. This resource includes image cards plus:

I SPY

Students sort the images according to which middle vowel sound they contain:

Students follow the bee path to the hive, covering each middle vowel sound with a matching picture. e.g. 'lip' on 'i', 'cat' on 'a', 'bent' on 'e'.
